Job Title: Accountant

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant with a strong understanding of the hospitality industry to join our team in Lagos.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions specific to hospitality operations, ensuring accuracy in records, and performing reconciliations.
• This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the unique financial challenges of the hospitality sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate financial records related to hospitality operations (e.g., revenue from room bookings, food and beverage sales, event costs).
• Perform bank reconciliations and other financial reconciliations, including reconciliation of daily sales and point-of-sale systems.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, including daily/weekly revenue reports, cost of goods sold, and occupancy rates.
• Process invoices, payments, and other financial transactions specific to hospitality vendors and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and hospitality industry standards.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including seasonal projections and event costing.
• Handle monthly and yearly closings, including inventory management of food, beverage, and other supplies.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to management, particularly regarding cost control and revenue optimization in a hospitality context.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality industry.
• Proficient in accounting software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Strong knowledge of reconciliation processes, including experience with point-of-sale systems and daily sales reconciliation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret hospitality-specific financial data.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with hospitality-specific accounting practices and software is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of accounting principles.
• Knowledge of types of accounting reports.
• Knowledge of tax.
• Procurement and inventory knowledge.
• Possession of an ICAN certification or any other relevant accounting credential is a plus.
• Data analytical knowledge is an added.
