Description: The New Zealand Government Vocational Short Term Training Scholarships are part of New Zealand’s international development assistance program, aimed at providing vocational and technical training opportunities for individuals from eligible developing countries. These scholarships are designed to enhance skills and knowledge in key sectors, contributing to sustainable development in the recipients’ home countries.
Eligibility:
- Citizenship: Applicants must be from eligible Pacific or other developing countries:Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna.
- Work Experience: Typically requires relevant work experience in the chosen field.
- English Proficiency: Some courses may require basic English skills.
- Commitment: Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to applying their skills in their home country after training.
- Have lived in their country of citizenship for the last two years or more.
Exception for diplomatic corps and their family: A member of the diplomatic corps or a dependant of a member of the diplomatic corps, living outside their own country, can apply for a Scholarship.
- Be at least 18 years old at the time they start the scholarship.
- Not be currently serving in the military.
- Not had a Manaaki Scholarship terminated in the past 5 years.
- Have at least one year of full-time or two years of part-time work experience (paid, unpaid or voluntary) that relates to their career and/or proposed training programme.
