Job Title: Quantity Surveyor & Procurement Specialist

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor & Procurement Specialist to manage the financial and procurement aspects of our construction projects.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantity surveying and procurement, bringing expertise in cost estimation, contract management, and material sourcing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates based on project designs, specifications, and requirements and ensure alignment with budgets.
  • Conduct market research to identify suitable suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating contracts to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop procurement strategies that ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Draft and review contracts for suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Monitor and control project budgets, analyzing variances and recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Assess and minimize risks associated with procurement and contract management.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance to ensure quality and reliability standards are maintained.
  • Maintain accurate records of costs, contracts, and procurement processes to support reporting and audits.
  • Collaborate with project teams to provide insights on cost-effective materials and construction methods.

Measurable KPIs

  • Accuracy of cost estimates (measured against final project costs).
  • Percentage of procurement completed on time.
  • Cost savings achieved through negotiated contracts (as a percentage of total procurement costs).
  • Supplier performance ratings based on quality, delivery, and service.
  • Timeliness of reporting and documentation related to procurement processes.

Qualifications
Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • MSc in the related fieldis an advantage
  • Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., RICS, QSRN) is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 5 – 8 years of experience in quantity surveying and procurement, preferably in the real estate or construction sectors.
  • Proven track record of managing procurement processes from start to finish for construction projects.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and supplier management.

Competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail, particularly in cost estimation and financial analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to effectively engage with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and build solid relationships with vendors.
  • Proficient in quantity surveying software and procurement tools (e.g., Buildsoft, Procore).
  • In-depth understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
