Job Title: Linus Embedded Systems Engineer – OS Optimization

Location: Lagos

Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing (A.K.A. Why This Job is Awesome):

OS Layer Troubleshooting (Balena/Yocto): Dive into the OS layer, built on Balena and Yocto, to diagnose and resolve complex system issues. You’ll be the go-to person for troubleshooting kernel-level problems and ensuring OS stability.
Embedded Linux System Optimization: Build and optimize custom Embedded Linux systems, focusing on performance, resource utilization, and reliability.
Hardware Integration: Integrate and configure hardware components, including GPUs, NPUs, and custom peripherals. This includes adding recipes and drivers to the OS.
Image Creation and Testing: Develop, test, and validate OS images for deployment on embedded devices. Ensure image stability and compatibility with hardware.
Driver Development and Integration: Write and integrate device drivers for custom hardware, ensuring seamless communication between hardware and the OS.
Recipe Development: Create and maintain Yocto recipes to build custom software packages and OS components.
Networking & Connectivity: Configure and troubleshoot network protocols, authentication systems, and security layers to keep everything running smoothly on embedded systems.
Containerization: Deploy applications using containerization technologies (Docker, or similar) within the embedded environment.

Requirements
What You Need to Bring to the Table:

Deep Understanding of Embedded Linux: Extensive experience with custom Linux distributions, particularly those built on Yocto and Balena.
OS Layer Troubleshooting Expertise: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues at the kernel and OS layer.
Hardware Integration Experience: Demonstrated experience integrating and configuring hardware components, including GPUs and NPUs.
Driver Development Skills: Familiarity with writing and integrating device drivers for custom hardware.
Yocto Recipe Development: Proficiency in creating and maintaining Yocto recipes.
Strong Networking Knowledge: Understanding of TCP/IP, VPNs, authentication protocols, and network security fundamentals.
Containerization Experience: Experience deploying applications within containers on embedded systems.

Bonus Points If You Have:

Knowledge of system security, encryption, and access control in embedded systems.
Familiarity with edge computing, AI, or IoT environments on embedded platforms.
